An NYPD Officer was bitten on the arm during an arrest in Queens Village Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at 11p.m.

According to the police, a man driving a Mercedes Benz CLS 550 was pulled over after running several red lights. When the man exited the car, he reportedly brandished a firearm and yelled, “I’m ready to die!”

After the man ignored repeated commands to drop his weapon, one of the officers was forced to shoot him, striking him in the leg. The man was then handcuffed and bit one of the officers on the arm as he was taken into custody.

The officer, a police sergeant, was taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital. The suspect, not immediately identified by the police, was taken to Queens Hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police recovered a loaded .40 Glock 26 at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
