On Tuesday, December 17, 2019 (TOMORROW), Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. will welcome over 300 students, grades 3-8, from Bronx public schools to the Bronx County Building’s Veterans’ Memorial Hall to compete in the Bronx Borough President’s Annual Chess Challenge.

The tournament will be separated into two sections – an Elementary School section and a Junior High School section – and individuals, as well as team champions from both sections, will be given awards.

The event is made possible thanks to the generous support of AT&T New York and the partnership of Chess in the Schools.

Borough President Diaz and AT&T President-Northern Region Marissa Shorenstein will play in chess games with the students and present tournament winners with awards.

The event will be held at The Bronx County Building Veterans’ Memorial Hall at 851 Grand Concourse. The Tournament Kick-off starts at 9:30. At 12:30 p.m.: Borough President Diaz will play chess with tournament participants. And the Awards Ceremony will start at 1: p.m.
