MAY 19 CAREER FAIR AT FORT HAMILTON
NYCDOC Matching Talented New Yorkers with Open Roles.
The New York City Department of Correction will be providing candidates with insight into uniform positions with career paths in various divisions including:
Emergency Service Unit/K-9 Unit,
Correction Intelligence Bureau, Fire Safety, Applicant Investigations Unit, Communications, Transportation, Construction Management, Training Academy, Fire Arms & Tactics Unit, Health Affairs and others – at their department-wide career fair on Thursday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fort Hamilton Military Base in Brooklyn. NYCDOC hiring managers will also be taking applications for non-uniform career-track jobs – from cooks and investigators to instructors and attorneys.
As the Department celebrates 120 years of serving the City of New York, the career fair provides an unprecedented opportunity to match talented New Yorkers with open roles. Originally intended for veterans, active-duty military personnel and their spouses, this event is now open to all persons interested in a career at the Department of Correction. Military or NY State ID is required for entry.
“The Department of Correction is a major city agency with a workforce of more than 10,000,” said Commissioner Joseph Ponte. “Whether you’re a cook, an investigator, an instructor or attorney, we can use your skills. Each staff member plays a pivotal role in helping the Department run seamlessly. We are recruiting the most qualified and dedicated candidates for our team.”
More than 800 job seekers attended a similar career fair two weeks ago at York College in Queens; and the Department will host another career fair on June 18 at Brooklyn Borough Hall.

The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) provides for the care, custody, and control of persons accused of crimes or convicted and sentenced to one year or less of jail time.
The Department manages 12 inmate facilities, 9 of which are located on Rikers Island. In addition, the Department operates two hospital Prison Wards (Bellevue and Elmhurst hospitals) and court holding facilities in Criminal, Supreme, and Family Court in each borough.
During Fiscal Year 2015, the Department handled over 67,000 admissions and managed an average daily inmate population of approximately 10,240 individuals.
