On Saturday, February 17th from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, The Harlem Karate Institute and The Phenomenal Women Group’s East Coast Chapter, in honor of Black History Month and in the Spirit of the African Proverb “It takes a village to raise a child,â€?  bring you FAMILY DAY of fun, fellowship and trade at the historic Harlem Karate Institute Youth Development Center located at 2234 Third Avenue, between 121st and 122nd Streets in East Harlem, NYC.

The Harlem Karate Institute Youth Development Center, a landmark in East Harlem, has teamed up with The Phenomenal Women Group to bring you this special Open House Presentation in honor of Black History Month.

Think back when you were a kid and somebody took the time to teach you how read a book, finish your homework, play an instrument, sing a song, recite a poem or inspirational phrase or bible passage — to include you in a team sport or even a play.

Our youth need us and since 1968, the Harlem Karate Institute has been here to help grow fine men and women.

Kids join gangs because they’re ignored, humiliated, depressed and afraid.  The Harlem Karate Institute has been a safe haven for kids – a place where they can come and network – yes, network.  Kids are master networkers.  Something many of us, as adults, have lost touch with and are now, through conferences and seminars, endeavoring to master once again.  Harlem Karate Institute is where children and youth come after school to build friendships and relationships while developing crucial life skills such as discipline, perseverance, social values and respect for themselves and others, and very importantly, how to defend themselves – primarily, by not getting into compromising situations in the first place.

Join the legendary Dr. Ernest Hyman and the Harlem Karate Institute kids as they entertain you with an astonishing and inspiring exhibition.  The Uptown Dance Academy is also slated to mesmerize everyone with their magical dance stylings.  Also scheduled to present are Georgia Woodbine, author of How To Make Big Bucks Without Selling Your Soul, Tonya E a/k/a Miss Right Now on her Stop Cussin’ Tour.  MIss Right Now is bringing a special surprise!  There will also be holistic treats and regular refreshments available.

Brothers and Sisters are welcome to come and set up tables to display and sell your goods and products, network or just relax and enjoy the festivities of the day.

The Harlem Karate Institute joyfully invites you to come and be a part of the organization, and brainstorm with us as we try to improve the facility and keep the doors open for our children.  Come take a tour.  Bring your ideas.  Brainstorm with us as we think of innovative ways to move forward in helping develop our children and youth.

This event is sponsored by The Black Star News, The Phenomenal Women Group, Power Networking Business Series and Winning Strategies & Associates “Bringing Great Ideas To Life
