The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce held the 2007 Brooklyn Building Awards last night at Stage 6 at Steiner Studios. The event, in its seventh year, honored Joshua Muss, principal of Muss Development, LLC and Andrew Kimball, president & CEO of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation for their work and celebrated 15 recently completed construction projects. The cocktail reception and ceremony held at Stage 6 at Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard drew well over 350 people including leaders in the real estate and development community, government and local elected officials.

“These projects, our honorees and the people present at this evening’s event represent the leading edge of Brooklyn’s economic renaissance,” said Brooklyn Chamber Interim President and Chief Operating Officer Mark M. Kessler. “This year’s submissions represent the diversity, creativity and business savvy that are a major part of Brooklyn’s economy and culture.”

“The Building Brooklyn Awards emphasizes the design excellence that people have come to expect from Brooklyn. The intense real estate market has created many more well-funded opportunities for that excellence to be realized,” said the Chamber’s Director of Real Estate & Development Cheryl Gladstone. “Each in their own way, our honorees Andrew Kimball and Joshua Muss have paved the way for many of these opportunities.

The Building Brooklyn Awards (BBA) is the biggest event specifically showcasing Brooklyn real estate and development projects.  It has become a highly anticipated event for the real estate and development community from Brooklyn and beyond.   Prominent architect Robert A.M. Stern, one of this year’s winners and also the Dean of the Yale University School of Architecture, gave brief remarks at the event.
