A cross-section of elected officials from communities throughout Brooklyn joined major union leaders, affordable housing advocates and representatives of Forest City Ratner Companies at a press conference August 23 prior to a state public hearing to express their support for the Atlantic Yards Project.

Among those showing their support were Nets Jason Kidd and Vince Carter, entertainer Roberta Flack, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Assemblyman Roger Green, United Federation of Teachers president Randi
Weingarten, Assemblyman Carl Andrews, State Senator Kevin Parker, State Senator Marty Golden, State Assembly Member Karim Camara, NY ACORN executive director Bertha Lewis, Downtown Brooklyn Neighborhood Alliance chair the Rev. Herbert Daughtry, Atlantic Yards Community Benefits Agreement chairperson Delia Hunley-Adossa, among other Brooklyn elected officials, union leaders and celebs.

"From Cobble Hill to Coney Island, from Greenpoint to Gravesend and all places in between, Brooklyn's elected officials, community leaders and working families have come out to support quality affordable housing, good jobs and the return of
professional sports to Brooklyn," said Ratner. "The encouragement from these leaders really sends a message that these are important issues across Brooklyn, and that Atlantic Yards will be an important step forward for this great and growing borough."
