100 Professionals for Positive Change is hosting a special golfing event entitled, The Gotham Golf Challenge at The Golf Club at Chelsea Piers/Pier 59, located at 23rd Street & The Hudson River in New York City.  The event will take place on Wednesday, June 11th, 2007  at 6:00 pm.  
 

There will be Open Play and Contests on the Full Swing Golf Simulators and an opportunity to play 51 championship courses from around the world.  Open Hitting on Driving Range with tips and instruction from Golf Professionals for the beginners and semi-pros will also be available.

Golf Award Presentations, light dining and music will take place in the Ryder Cup Room whose country club-type setting boasts Hudson River-Marina views and adjoins the first tier of the golf driving range of the Golf Club, providing guests with convenient use of the golf facilities.
 

This event is an initiative in support of Tony Herbert for State Senate ’08.  The organizers promise a wonderful evening of golfing, networking and lots of fun.

About Tony Herbert

Anthony “Tony� Herbert is CEO of The Professionals Network Organization whose mission is to help provide young, upwardly mobile minorities with access to the resourses and information they need to grow and develop professionally, in order to become a part of an “Ownership Society.�

 

Tony is a strong advocate for women’s health, positive youth initiatives, home ownership, small business development and ownership, affordable health care, affordable housing, job development, employment education and increased funding for cancer research. 

 

In addition to his work with the Bed Stuy Safety Task Force, a courageous group of concerned community people and organizations that have come together to deal directly with the issues relating to gang activity and crime, Tony is currently working with elected officials and community-based organizations to organize the first ever Central Brooklyn youth Council – an organization designed to give youth in the Brooklyn community, insight on how non-partisan government works in order to educate and motivate them with regards to the importance of the voting process.

 

Tony has extensive experience working inside and behind the scenes of local, state and federal government.  He served as Special Assistant to Congressman Ed Towns (D) of the 10th Congressional District in Brooklyn fighting for the rights of residents in the council district and helping them get access to City services.  Tony has also worked on projects with former President, Bill Clinton and current President, George W. Bush. 

 

In March of this year, Tony was honored with the Economic Empowerment Award by 100 Black Men of Long Island.
