Managing A Bondable Business

December 17, 2009 from 5:30pm to 7pm @ Medgar Evers College, 1650 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, in conjunction with J.P. West Inc., are inviting principals and key managers of businesses to attend this
first in a series of financial literacy workshops entitled, “Managing a Bondable
Business.” The workshop is geared toward helping small business owners turn bonding
into an advantage for their businesses by explaining how surety underwriters assess the bond worthiness
of a business and how day-to-day business decisions
impact a business owner’s eligibility to secure the bonds needed in order to be
awarded lucrative government contracts.

The conference was organized to enable principals and key managers of businesses to learn to understand the purpose of Contract Surety, complete the documentation required to obtain a bond, assess the tools used by bond underwriters such as Work in
Progress Schedules, Schedule of Completed Contracts and Financial
Statements, etc., understand HR 3771 (Rep. Clarke’s legislation that would facilitate bonding for certain small businesses) and reinforce knowledge of basic terms and concepts of Contract Surety.

Participants will be required to read materials provided in advance and
to bring business documents needed to self-assess bondability. Come
prepared to qualify for lucrative government contracts.

The event is free.  However, seating is limited and registration is absolutely required.

Principals and key managers of businesses who would like to attend this conference may RSVP
at 718-287-1142, or [email protected].
