Hundreds of Fathers are expected to convene for the “Real Men Do Diapers” contest, to Battle for “King Diaper Dad” bragging rights and set a new record for the Fastest Diaper Change at The Stork Store, located at 580 Manhattan Avenue (bet. Driggs & Nassau Avenues) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. TODAY, Saturday, June 14th 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The proceeds of will benefit the Fathers Count program at Inwood House, NYC.

The diaper change has always been considered a rite of passage for any father. This Father’s Day weekend, The Mocha Manual Company is calling for all mocha men to show their Dad pride, give $1 to a good cause, and be a part of African-American history in the making. The record-setting number of black men changing diapers in one day will be a symbolic declaration of their commitment to fatherhood. The best time will be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records and the newly-crowned “King” will receive a royal grand prize. All proceeds benefit the Fathers Count program at Inwood House, a teen pregnancy prevention and family support service established in 1830, that serves over 5,000 young people in New York and New Jersey.
                                                          
At 2:00 p.m. there will be a free Luncheon and Town Hall-style, no-holds barred panel discussion which will be moderated by Shon Gables, host of the Black Enterprise Business Report on TV One Redefining Dad: Five Things Every Black Father Needs to Know.

Single dads, married dads, dads-to-be, and baby daddys are invited to join Len Burnett, CEO and publisher of Uptown magazine, Isaac Ewell, founder of SoulGenesis (soulgen.com), Andrew Ross, executive director of Fathers Count, along with other local rookie and veteran fathers for straight talk on the real deal of fatherhood.

This Father’s Day weekend, hundreds of black fathers are expected to convene in Williamsburg, Brooklyn for a historic town hall discussion on fatherhood and take part in an en masse showing of the ultimate rite of passage for any dad–the diaper change. The event, to be held at The Stork Store, hopes to raise funds for Fathers Count, a program of Inwood House that prepares and supports teen fathers on the responsibilities of being a Dad.

“Real dads do diapers. And we are making a symbolic declaration that black men are committed, involved fathers who aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves for their children’s care, “says Kimberly Seals Allers, founder of www.mochamanual.com and author of The Mocha Manual to a Fabulous Pregnancy (Amistad/HarperCollins), an NAACP Image Award nominated book.

The Mocha Man Diapering Dad contest and town hall discussion will crown a new “King Big Daddy” for the fastest change time and will make history for the most black fathers changing a diaper in one day. The best time will be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records. “We’re honored The Stork Store will become a historic landmark for African American dads,” says Stephanie Watson-Campbell, store owner and childbirth educator.

A wide range of fathers from single dads, married dads, divorced dads and baby daddys will take part in the groundbreaking discussion led by Len Burnett, publisher of Uptown magazine and moderated by Shon Gables, host of the Black Enterprise Business Report on TV One. The panel also includes Isaac Ewell, co-founder of SoulGen.com, a hip hop education and lifestyle website and Andrew Ross, senior coordinator of the Fathers Count program at Inwood House, a non-profit founded in the 1900s that provides teen pregnancy prevention and family service support to over 5,000 young people in New York and New Jersey.  From dealing with baby mama drama and redefining Dad to keeping your relationship alive after the child, the panel will have a no holds barred discussion on everything black fathers need to know.
