CWA Local 1182 Taps Jackson For Boro President

Adding to his growing labor support, the CWA 1182 has formally announced its endorsement of Councilman Robert Jackson for Manhattan Borough President. Unions representing more than 400,000 members have already endorsed Jackson.

“Robert Jackson has a been a strong advocate for better education for all New Yorkers, and has demonstrated that he is a determined individual who has worked hard to achieve his goals,” said Robert Cassar, President, CWA Local 1182. “He will bring that same drive and commitment to the Manhattan Borough President’s office.  He will bring that same energy to the citizens of New York, which will benefit our Membership.”

“I thank CWA 1182 for their confidence in me and their support,” said Robert Jackson. “This is another sign of the momentum we are feeling as we build a strong grassroots organization that is moving this campaign forward. With more contributors than any other campaign, the support of Democratic Clubs, labor unions and education and community activist across the borough, we are building the campaign from the ground up to get my message out and win this election.”

CWA 1182 represents more than 3,000 members serving as New York City’s Traffic Enforcement Agents employed by the New York City Police Department to enforce vehicle and traffic laws and New York City’s Sanitation Enforcement Agents who work with the Sanitation Police and Uniformed Sanitation workers to ensure that our city is kept clean and disease free.

Robert Jackson has previously been endorsed by: former Mayor David Dinkins, Congressman Charles Rangel, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., State Senator Bill Perkins, Assemblyman Denny Farrell, Councilmember Inez Dickens, New York Communities for Change, the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), CSEA, Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 100, the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators (CSA),  the Professional Staff Congress (PSC), Public Employees Federation (PEF), CWA (Communication Workers of America) Local 1180, the Sandhogs Union, Local 147, Stagehands Union, IATSE Local One, the Frederick E. Samuel Community Democratic Club, the Tioga Carver Democratic Club, Concerned Democratic Coalition of Northern Manhattan,  The Audubon Reform Democratic Club, the Barack Obama Democratic Club, the Sojourner Truth Democratic Club, the Muslim Democratic Club of New York and hundreds of political, community and religious leaders.
