In an effort to revitalize the Clinton presidential run, the Hillary for New York campaign hosted phone banks all-around the city this week, encouraging voters to cast their ballots for next week’s vital election.

The effort comes after F.B.I. Director, James Comey, was criticized and scrutinized for his letter to Congress suggesting newly discovered emails that might be linked to Clinton’s private server. The new email controversy has raised eyebrows and suspicions as to why the information was released so close to the election.

According to CNN, Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, in an open letter to Comey, warned the F.B.I.director his brash actions may have violated the Hatch Act of 1939: “I am writing to inform you that my office has determined that these actions may violate the Hatch Act,” Reid said in his letter to Comey. “Through your partisan actions, you may have broken the law.”

Just recently, the New York Daily News reported that U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch stood behind Comey’s decision to reopen the email investigation in a sit-down meeting Monday.

Clinton supporters around the city have called the investigation a vile, underhanded tactic by the opposition:’

“It’s a clear tactic to dissuade voters,” said one Clinton supporter, volunteering at the Hillary for New York Campaign in Forest Hills.

The Clinton campaign has condemned the investigative probe into Clinton’s emails, calling it “unprecedented” and  “deeply troubling l”.

“It’s pretty strange to put something like that out with such little information right before an election,” Clinton told supporters in Daytona Beach, Florida last week.

“Clinton’s email scandal hasn’t changed my decision,” one voter said after leaving the phone bank. “Emails won’t make or break America. But hatred and prejudices will.”
