12th Annual Wall St Project Economic Summit

Greetings!

Now that the Presidential election is over let us get back to the business at hand of stabilizing our economy, creating opportunities for all and leveling the playing field.  The Wall Street Project Economic Summit is the first such event of the year as we go into the inauguration of our 44th President, Barack Obama on January 20th, 2009.
 
This correspondence serves as an invitation for you and your network to participate as a sponsor and/or a registrant of the 12th Annual Wall Street Project Economic Summit and Gala, January 13 – 16, 2009.
 
This year’s theme is “Fallout From The Bailout: A New Day in Washington.”  Launched on Dr. King’s birthday, The Wall Street Project was established to assure equal opportunity for minority employees, consumers, and entrepreneurs. Our organization has served as a catalyst for aggressive change in the areas of procurement, employment, corporate board diversity and access to capital. The summit will convene at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers, 811 Seventh Avenue at 52nd Street, New York, NY 10019. 

We are happy to announce that FDIC Chairwoman Sheila Bair has confirmed as the keynote speaker at the opening breakfast on January 14. We have verbal commitments from Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Assistant Treasury Secretary, Neel Kashkari.  We are expecting a tremendous international plenary with H.E. Paul Kagame – President, The Republic of Rwanda, H.E. Raila Odinga – Prime Minister, The Republic of Kenya, H.E. Abdoulaye Wade – President, The Republic of Senegal, H.E Jakaya Kikwete – President, The United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Jacob Zuma – President, African National Congress, South Africa,  Hon. Ambassador Andrew Young – Co-Chairman, GoodWorks International, and H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo – Former President, The Federal Republic of Nigeria President of South Africa, President of Senago all on Thursday, January 15, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s actual birthday.  We will close out the summit on Friday, January 16th, with Joseph Saunders, CEO and Chairman Visa.

In addition, we will be partnering again this year with the New York Times to offer a major diversity career fair, to help address the increasing number of our colleagues whom have been laid off as a result of the economic crisis which is occurring in our country.
