America's Islamist in Libya: "If we hated the Americans 100% today is is less than 50%. They have started to redeem themselves for the past mistakes by helping to preserve the blood of our children

[Black Star News Editorial]

A meeting of the "contact group" has just ended today in the monarchy of Qatar, which is run like the personal property of the Al-Thani family to support rebels in Libya to "introduce democracy."

Qatar, the personal play ground of the Al-Thani family is the biggest advocate for war on Libya. We recommend that Qatar take a strong dosage of the same medicine it wants to spread elsewhere. Perhaps the monarchy believes it can use Libya as a diversion so Qataris won't start asking questions about why the Al-Thanis have run the country since the 19th Century?

The hypocrisy promoted by the West could drive the whole world insane. Listen to part of the statement issued by the "contact group" on Libya, which includes the three monarchies of Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar: “It is for the people of Libya to choose their own government..”

Which itself is good; but the same principle should apply to people in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar as well.

So while the motives of the royals in Qatar, Kuwait and UAE for war on Libya is easy to discern, what do we make of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's and her boss President Barack Obama's? In the Libyan war do we have a case of the blind leading the blind; as in Clinton and Obama following Nicolas Sarkozy regardless of the long term security and political implications for the region, by possibly creating a haven for radical Islamists in Libya?

There is abundant evidence that the congregation of anti-Muammar al-Quathafi forces, collectively dubbed by corporate media as "the rebels," is a ticking time-bomb. A little-noted article in The Wall Street Journal's weekend edition of April 2, was very informative. The report deals with the Islamists' role in the fighting and demonstrates the extent of U.S. depravity in being so blinded by Sarkozy's fixation on Libya that it may help turn the country into another Somalia as Moussa Koussa and others have warned.

The Journal article describes how former Libyan Islamist fighters in Afghanistan, and others, released from U.S. detention on Guantanamo Bay are training the Benghazi insurrectionists in eastern Libya. The Islamists claim their hatred for the U.S. has now diminished to less than 50 percent of what it previously was. Presumably these are odds that Secretary of State Clinton is willing to take a chance on.

Clinton would rather reject the African Union's peace proposal presented by South African president Jacob Zuma and other African leaders and take the risk that the alliance with Islamists in Libya won't turn out as badly as it did in Afghanistan. Maybe this time around, Clinton may hope, should the rebels succeed in ousting Al-Quathafi, the Islamists amongst them will participate in competitive national elections. They may even take their seats in a national Libyan parliament where they could sit all day and debate--outlining their vision for a post-Quathafi Libya.

Why does the U.S. tolerate this ticking time bomb of a relationship? "Their discipline and fighting experience is badly needed by the rebels' ragtag army," The Journal article, under the headline "Ex-Mujahedeen Help Lead Libyan Rebels," explains, describing the Islamists.

This enemy-of-my-enemy is-my-friend strategy was already tested in Afghanistan.

Yet maybe Clinton was persuaded by the interesting comments the Islamists provided The Wall Street Journal. "Our view is starting to change of the U.S.," said Abdel Hakim al-Hasady, whom The Journal describes as "an influential Islamic preacher and high school teacher" who previously logged five years in a training camp in Afghanistan. "If we hated the Americans 100% today is is less than 50%. They have started to redeem themselves for the past mistakes by helping to preserve the blood of our children," al-Hasady told The Journal.

According to The Journal, al-Hasady "oversees the recruitment, training and deployment of about 300 rebel fighters" from the town of Darna, in eastern Libya.

Al-Hasady's "field commander on the frontline" The Wall Street Journal informs, is an ex-fighter for the Libyan Islamic Figthting Group (LIFG) "which was formed in the 1990s by Libyan Mujadeheen returning home after helping to drive the Soviets from Afghanistan and dedicated to ousting Mr. Gadhafi from power."

The Journal also provides additional information about Clinton's and NATO's new allies in the Libyan civil war: "Sufyan Ben Qumu, a Libyan army veteran who worked for Osama bin Laden's holding company in the Sudan and later for an al Qaeda-linked charity in Afghanistan, is training many of the city's rebel recruits."

"Both Messrs. Hasady and Ben Qumu were picked up by Pakistani authorities after the U.S. led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001 and were turned over to the U.S.," The Journal further informs. "Mr. Hasady was released to Libyan custody two months later. Mr. Ben Qumu spent six years in Guantanamo Bay before he was turned over to Libyan custody."

So what did the tyrant al-Quathafi do with the men? "They were both released from Libyan prisons in 2008 as part of a reconciliation with Islamists in Libya," The Journal reports. Both men are now gainfully offering their services to the U.S.-backed rebels in Benghazi.

Al-Hasady is presumably preparing for his day in Libya's eventual post-Quathafi parliament when he tells The Journal: "No Islamist revolution has ever succeeded. Only when the whole population was included did we succeed, and that means a more inclusive idelogy."

While Clinton, Obama and Sarkozy may be into high stakes political gambling and wishful thinking, it's worth taking heed of this observation in The Wall Street Journal article:

"For the U.S., the situation recalls the problems that followed America's ill-fated alliance with the Afghan Mujahedeen fighting the Soviets in the 1980s. Many went on to al Qaeda and other violent radical Islamist groups."

Wasn't this about "saving" Libyan civilians?
