Re: Van Jones, Victim Of Hate-broadcast Terrorism, blackstarnews.com September 6.

What’s Mr. Jones’ answerability in this matter!?  As people of color, we will cease offering excuses for repugnant conduct by highly educated, successful professionals who, undoubtedly recognize the magnitude of this moment.

President Obama and Special Adviser, Ms. Valerie Jarrett felt betrayed after staking her reputation on him, and now have refused to defend Mr. Jones’ vile words, terrorist actions and legal violations of public trust.

Prior to being nominated as Special Adviser, “he affirmed in a lengthy security questionnaire, nothing in his past would surface that could cause damage or ridicule to the administration.”  Forlorn protestations of in-culpability are inconsequential!

Mr. Jones was not targeted by “A Right Wing Hate Broadcast.” Just like Rev. Jeremiah Wright, he tarnished President Obama with cosmic conspiracy theories on the eve of a generation’s defining moment and the most pivotal five day interval of his elected life.  As Dr. Maya Angelou said: “When someone shows you who they are, believe them.”

His words, actions and criminal record led to his ruination and no amount of apology or self-indignation can remake history or salve his treachery.

Militant thesis’ or juke-joint persiflage committed in perpetuity deserves neither sympathy, gudgeon outrage or commiseration.

For a Yale educated lawyer, Mr. Jones assuredly postulates inarticulate colloquys.

For example: “I had a professor who encouraged me to apply to Harvard and Yale [for law school], which was almost unheard of for students coming from the kind of public schools that I was coming from in the rural South. I was accepted to both places, and decided to go to Yale because Yale didn’t have any grades and was smaller than Harvard. I figured, once I enroll I’m  guaranteed to graduate, so I can just go and be a radical hell raiser student, and they can’t do anything about it. Which is pretty much what happened.”
