“Thank you all for coming, said Foxy as she addressed the press corp. “In May, 2005, my life was altered drastically, explained the young artist. “I have spent many confusing, agonizing nights crying in isolation and silence and the confusion at times became overwhelming. During the recording of my new album Black Roses’ I was diagnosed with sudden severe hearing loss, said the very emotional Brown, fighting back tears.

It isn’t clear what caused the loss of Inga Marchand, a.k.a Foxy Brown’s hearing, but it is clear that she is loved.

This was demonstrated by the gathering of her friends who came to support the brave artist in her time of need.  People like Russell Simmons and his wife Kimora Lee, Dr. Benjamin Chavis, model Tyson Beckford, Kathy Sharpton, Rev. Youngblood, her current attorney Joseph Fleming, Dr. Laura Arias and many of Brown’s Hip Hop peers were in attendance.

The 26 year old Ms. Brown held a press conference in the CBS building which houses BET’s New York production studio to inform the public of her impending operation which is hoped will fully restore her hearing.  Brown has been diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss which is a rare condition that can be caused by a number of conditions including the deterioration of hearing, especially from higher frequencies of sound, head trauma, bacterial and/or viral infection, disorders of the central nervous system, etc.  At this time it is unknown what the exact condition is that brought about the loss of Foxy’s hearing.

“Thank you all for coming,â€? said Foxy as she addressed the press corp.  “In May, 2005, my life was altered drastically,â€? explained the young artist. “I have spent many confusing, agonizing nights crying in isolation and silence and the confusion at times became overwhelming.  During the recording of my new album Black Roses’ I was diagnosed with sudden severe hearing loss,â€? said the very emotional Brown, fighting back tears.  “But today, I stand before you blessed with only the voice of God in my ears as a vessel of inspirationâ€? said Foxy who has suffered a complete loss of hearing.  “I have weathered the tremulous storm with an abiding faith.  I am strong, resilient, and fortunate to undergo the necessary surgery to restore my hearing.  I thank Dr. Benjamin Chavis, my family and second family Russell Simmons and Kimora Lee Simmons.  I thank my wonderful and amazing doctor, Laura Arias, and I ask everyone to keep me in their prayersâ€? remarked Brown.

Although, Dr. Arias, believes the surgery will be successful she did not elaborate on the details of the surgery. Dressed in a lynx coat, Arias stated “I believe Foxy is a strong candidate for recovery. In terms of the assault case pending in Manhattan Supreme Court on December 23rd as the result of an August 29, 2004 incident with two nail salon workers, lawyer Fleming, indicated he was cautiously optimistic that an agreement can be reached that will dispose of the Ms. Brown’s legal issues “without leaving her with a lot of baggage in the process.

“We called the press conference because in the past a lot of the media has been rather mean with their coverage of Foxy Brown, so we are holding this press conference so that the media can have the real story about what is going on with Foxy stated Russell Simmons.

Wearing jeans and a black Gucci jacket, Foxy expressed her appreciation to Russell Simmons by stating that when she first signed a contract with Simmons’ record company, he promised to honor his commitment to her and has always stood true to that commitment and honored his word.  She thanked his wife Kimora for being like a sister to her and helping her through these trying times. She expressed gratitude to her doctor for encouraging her, uplifting her and being there during those times she has felt depressed and concerned about losing her hearing.

Brown said as soon as she has recovered from the surgery she will return to the studio to put the final touches on her new “Black Roses recording.
