Imus: Give Millions For Scholarship
If William J. Bennett, former Education Secretary, an eminently educated person can advocate for the abortion of Black children as a solution to the crime rate, and still continue to have regular appearance on CNN and other mainstream broadcast outlets and publications, why should Imus be made to resign?

If Michael Richards (“Kramer) was not banned from continuing to perform in comedy clubs after his vile hateful racist remarks –reminding a Black heckler that years ago he would have been lynched and burned— why should radio and television’s Don Imus, now suspended for two weeks, be forced to resign for referring to Rutgers University female basketball players as “nappy-headed hos?
If William J. Bennett, former Education Secretary, an eminently educated person can advocate for the abortion of Black children as a solution to the crime rate, and still continue to have regular appearance on CNN and other mainstream broadcast outlets and publications, why should Imus be made to resign? Bennett on his radio show two years ago said: “I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could, if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down.
If racist LAPD detective Mark “Furher Fuhrman can could casually and routinely refer to Blacks as “niggers in his regular conversations –as easily as he busts the head of innocent “suspects while on the LAPD–and be exposed during the O.J Simpson trial, yet still go on to become a media darling on numerous mainstream broadcast outlets and also publish books with major Publishing houses, then why should Imus have to resign?
If Imus resigns – and we would not shed a drop of tear – then the cable channels and other outlets must also stop broadcasting Seinfeld reruns; then Bennett must stop appearing on CNN and other major outlets; and Richards must stop appearing at Comedy clubs.
This would be a true test of our outrage and determination in confronting racism – and its sanctioning by mainstream multi-billion dollar media companies. Part of this test has already met with utter failure: why aren’t Imus corporate bosses rushing to fire him?
Might it be, because a wide portion of the American public –and this is chilling and also applies to the cases of Fuhrman, Bennett and Kramer—find his comments acceptable?
In the meantime, we suggest that Imus pledge a few million dollars to Rutgers University to establish a Scholarship for African American students and to the United Negro College Fund.
