Is Arizona’s Governor Brewer Crazy?

After all, this is the same governor who in 2010 falsely claimed that the Obama Administration had lost control over border security with Mexico and as a result beheaded and burned bodies –victims of crimes by illegal immigrants– were now being found in the desert.

Questions About Governor’s Mental Health

As the whole world now knows, Governor Jan Brewer confronted President Obama and unleashed a finger-wagging tirade against the president after he descended from his plane in Arizona.

Supposedly the Arizona governor reacted to the president’s observation that he didn’t like what she wrote about an earlier White House meeting the two had, to discuss immigration. Shortly after that White House meeting, Brewer held a press conference and praised the president as cordial and understanding even though they had disagreements. Yet, by the time she wrote the book, she recalled him to be condescending and threatening. Evidently, she wanted to boost her book’s sales.

Brewer has a harsh hardline stance on immigration issues in Arizona relative to the White House’s.

The photograph of the encounter with the president on the tarmac shows Arizona’s chief executive embarrassing the entire state and the nation. For a sitting governor, or any individual, to show any disagreement with the president in such an insulting and demeaning manner is unprecedented.

Yet, why should anyone be surprised. Several Republicans clearly don’t oppose the president only on party and ideological grounds. This has been evident since Obama was sworn into office. The most paranoid of the lunatics, including Donald Trump, even questioned his citizenship.

Also recall the disrespectful display in 2009 by Representative Joe Wilson, Republican of S. Carolina, who famously interrupted President Obama during his State of the Union address when he screamed “You lie.”

Republican candidate Newt Gingrich has been denouncing Obama as the “food stamps” president, a not-so-veiled code for the N-word. Gingrich was rewarded with victory in South Carolina’s primary election.

Now Governor Brewer steps into the picture.

Perhaps she was hoping the president would act as irrationally as she had acted? Maybe even wag his finger back at her? Perhaps brush her gently and give her the excuse to hurl her body on the tarmac?  That would have surely provided excellent footage for campaign ads for the Republicans.

Maybe Brewer is not that devious. Maybe she is indeed mentally deficient.

After all, this is the same governor who in 2010 falsely claimed that the Obama Administration had lost control over border security with Mexico and as a result beheaded  and burned bodies –victims of crimes by illegal immigrants– were now being found in the desert. She later had to back off from this lunatic fantasy which was intended to generate hostility towards immigrants.

Additional questions arose about Brewer’s state of mind when she had a brief brain freeze in 2010 during a gubernatorial campaign debate.

Even Brewer’s own explanation about the airport encounter with the president raises more questions.

Whatever was behind Brewer’s shameful display during the airport encounter with President Obama, the citizens of Arizona are within their rights to ask that she get a mental evaluation.
