John McCain’s ‘Me First’ Reckless Strategy Imperils US Security

What manner of reckless narcissistic ambition is this? The American public have caught up to McCain’s new motto, ‘me first.’ That’s why by an overwhelming 75% registered voters in a survey published in The New York Times yesterday declared that McCain has selected Palin not because of her qualifications, but because he wanted to win and become president.

The twin threats against the United States and by implication much of world stability are the economic tumult that’s rocking the nation and continued warfare in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Republican candidates, John McCain and Sarah Palin cannot meet these challenges judging by their recent pronouncements.

Running the government of the United States of America is not a gimmick; McCain lost his mind with his VP running mate selection.

McCain and Palin do not have the grasp necessary to arrest the economic freefall and establish the framework for recovery.

It was Senator Barack Obama who warned that the nation should expect more economic shocks, several months ago, as anyone can establish by visiting his website www.barack.com and seeing his speeches.

Obama has been preparing an economic recovery plan for when he gets into office; several thousands of jobs can be created by reconstructing the nations

collapsing infrastructure, rather than Iraq’s.

McCain, shockingly and irresponsibly boasted months ago that he knew nothing about the economy, prompting his then Republican rival, Mitt Romney, to warn of impending disaster with McCain as president; how dare McCain aspire to be president and concede that he has no plan to create jobs so Americans can feed their families and save their homes.

On the national security front, granted, McCain has the experience of war. Yet, Obama has shown superior wisdom and judgment.

Obama warned months ago that Afghanistan would flare up, unless the United States shifted troops and materiel from Iraq; his warning has now been vindicated. Separately, Obama called for a timeframe for withdrawal from the Iraq occupation, which is milking $120 to $150 billion a year from the US Treasury; money that could be used to jump start the economy and create productive jobs.

Even the Bush White House and Iraq Prime Minister Nouri Kamal al-Maliki now agree with Obama’s plan, as opposed to McCain’s vision for 100-years occupation. Evidently, McCain might have thought the cost of the war would not have adverse impact on the U.S. economy, as it now is.

Most disturbingly however, McCain has ditched his motto of ‘country first,’ to satisfy his egotistical quench for the presidency.

In a world of al-Qaeda, Taliban, a resurgent belligerent Russia, and other radical groups, why would McCain mortgage the United States’ national security by choosing as his running mate the eminently unqualified Alaska governor Sarah Palin? He well knows that he is well past the prime of youth and in questionable health. Instead of reassuring the nation, and selecting someone prepared to be president on day one, as Obama did, McCain chose to address his own selfish needs.

Many people, including Democrats have denounced Obama, declaring that he should have selected Hillary Clinton to ensure vistory. But Obama believes in country first; that Joseph Biden would be a better Vice President, with steady hands and scandal-free.

What manner of reckless narcissistic ambition is this displayed by McCain? The American public have caught up to McCain’s new motto, ‘me first.’ That’s why by an overwhelming 75% registered voters in a survey published in The New York Times yesterday declared that McCain has selected Palin not because of her qualifications, but because he wanted to win and become president.

Any man who would gamble away the lives of Americans for his own naked ambitions does not deserve to be president at all.
