Carl Dix, nationally renowned revolutionary leader and speaker, lectures Saturday February 18 on “Mass Incarceration + Silence = Genocide” at The Riverside Church at 4PM.

An initiator and leader of the Stop Mass
Incarceration Network’s “STOP Stop & Frisk” campaign in New York
City, Dix will speak about the emergency situation today where close to
2.5 million people, mostly Black and Latino, are in prison; where racial
profiling and “stop & frisk” serves as a pipeline to prison for
generations of youth; and, where the formerly incarcerated are
discriminated against on every front in society. “All this comes down to
a slow genocide which could easily accelerate into fast genocide,” Dix
says.

Here in the New York
area in the past week, the NYPD has again provoked public outcry over
the beating and killing of young Black men. With
public displays of disgust, anger, and protest rising over the illegal
and racist NYPD practice of stop & frisk, this presentation is more
than timely for those looking for a way out of this madness. “There is a
way out and that way is revolution,” Dix says.

Dix will get into and
breakdown why nothing short of revolution is needed to end the
injustice of mass incarceration and everything else foul this system
enforces on humanity.

The lecture is at
The Riverside Church’s Assembly Hall, 490 Riverside Drive, New York
City. Take the Number 1 IRT to 116th Street or to 125th Street. Enter at
Claremont Avenue between 120th and 122nd Streets.

The lecture is sponsored by Revolution Books NYC, and hosted by The Mission and Social Justice Commission of The Riverside Church.

Dix is a longtime revolutionary and a founding member of the Revolutionary Communist Party. In 1970, he was part of the largest mass refusal of U.S. soldiers to go to Vietnam. He is a co-founder of the October 22nd Coalition to Stop Police Brutality. In 2006, he coordinated the Katrina Hearings of the Bush Crimes Commission. Since 2009 he and Cornel West have engaged in a series of dialogues, “In the Age of Obama: Police Terror; Incarceration; No Jobs; Mis-Education…What Future for Our Youth?”

In 2011, Carl Dix co-issued a call for a campaign of civil disobedience to STOP “Stop & Frisk.”
