Massive Libya Protest To Be Announced

"Millions March," planned in Harlem to protest NATO’s Libya bombing campaign

A coalition of Pan African and progressive organizations have joined forces to hold what is called Millions March in Harlem to demand an end to the bombing of Libya by NATO.

The protest will also denounce “the illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe; and Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s destruction of education, housing and health care in New York City,” organizers, who plan a Harlem news conference to offer details, said. 

The protest planning press conference will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM, in the Office of New York State Assemblyman Keith Wright, at the Harlem State Office Building, Suite 911, 163 West 125th Street, New York. The logistics of the march will be revealed, organizers say.

Coalition members include: the December 12th International Secretariat; the Nation of Islam; Operation POWER; New Black Panther Party; Dr. Molefi Kete Asante, Afrocentricity International; City Councilman Charles Barron; All African People’s Revolutionary Party; World African Diaspora Union; International Action Center; Dr. Leonard Jeffries, WADU; Clement Payne Champers; Global African Congress (Canada); John Watusi Branch, WADU/African Poetry Theater; ANSWER Coalition; Patrice Lumumba Coalition; People’s Empowerment Party (Barbados); Universal African People’s Organization; Committee to Eliminate Media Offensive to African People; WISOMMM; International Association Against Torture; Freedom Party, National Black United Front, and others to be announced.
