My Article Did Not Attack Obama

The article was not in any way attacking Senator Obama, but the very common view (made popular in recent days by Republican commentators like John Bolton, David Brooks and WIlliam Kristol) that Europeans are all crazy about Obama, and that he therefore is somehow less American.

I appreciate the amount of space you devoted to my op-ed, but I wish you had read it more carefully.  The article was not in any way attacking Senator Obama, but the very common view (made popular in recent days by Republican commentators like John Bolton, David Brooks and WIlliam Kristol) that Europeans are all crazy about Obama, and that he therefore is somehow less American.

This right-wing ploy is largely made possible by the fact that the reporters spreading it do not understand the relevant countries or read the relevant languages. In fact, I have been a strong supporter of Senator Obama since the beginning of his campaign.  For more information about my views of the Senator, please see, for example:
