In 2007, Joe Horn, a White homeowner in Pasadena, TX spotted two Black men allegedly burglarizing a neighbor's home. Horn called 911. The operator warned Horn to avoid becoming a vigilante. He refused to accept the advice and fatally shot both men in the back. Texas honored Horn as a hero.

The New York State Department of Correctional Services will allow John White, in chains, to view his mother Julia White's body on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at McCall's Bronxwood Funeral Home, 4035 Bronxwood Ave., in the Bronx, New York.

Take the No. 2 train or the No. 5 train to 225th Street Station in the Bronx. The funeral home is four blocks away--Telephone No. (718) 231-7647.

United African Movement is sponsoring an on-line petition for Gov. David Paterson to pardon John White who has been criminalized for avoiding another Emmett Till outcome (Editor's note: when he defended his family and home from an attack by a lynchmob).

Both UAM and 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care have also prepared petitions. Churches and civic groups should gather signatures on or before December 27, 2010.  Gov. Paterson must vacate the Executive Chambers before January 1, 2011.  Time is of the essence.

John White was charged with homicide and criminal use of a weapon. An all-White jury in Suffolk County convicted John White of manslaughter in the second degree and criminal use of a weapon. The Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department affirmed the conviction.  It held that John White should have called "911".

Tuesday night in Panama City, FL., Mike Jones, a White security officer, shot an armed gunman in the back while he was shooting at school board members. Before the security officer shot this gunman, he first went to his vehicle to secure his bulletproof vest. The gunman died from gunshot wounds. Jones is now being treated as a hero.

In both the Florida case and the Texas case, the gunmen, who fired their weapons, were never in fear for their lives.  The security officer in Florida would claim his right to defend others. Horn was obviously not protecting anyone. John White was on his own properly defending his wife and family.

This week, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson announced that he is seriously considering a plea to posthumously pardon Billy the Kid, a notorious outlaw of the nineteenth century.  The more things change, the more they remain the same except that Blacks have moved from physical restraint to mentacide.
