United Nations: Ugandans To Protest Dictator Museveni’s Visit

The demonstration is aimed at raising international awareness of the dire situation in Uganda which is characterized by extra-judicial killings and genocide, routine human rights abuse, illegal detentions in so-called "safe houses," lack of personal and press freedom, land grabbing, a dysfunctional political system

Ugandans in the Diaspora International, Inc. (UDII) has obtained a permit to hold a demonstration at the United Nations headquarters in New York this coming Friday, September 24, 2010 from 2PM to 5PM. This will coincide with the opening of the UN General Assembly which dictator Yoweri K. Museveni is expected to attend.

Demonstrators will assemble at the Corner of 3rd Av. and 47th St. at 3PM. The protest will then move to 1st. Av. and 47th st. in Manhattan by the UN.

The demonstration is aimed at raising international awareness of the dire situation in Uganda which is characterized by extra-judicial killings and genocide, routine human rights abuse, illegal detentions in so-called “safe houses,” lack of personal and press freedom, land grabbing, a dysfunctional political system, past rigged elections, a constitution that is routinely ignored by the regime that enacted it, massive corruption at all levels of government, and sectarianism.
