West Preparing World For Qathafi Assassination?

Ronald Reagan tagged al-Qathafi "mad dog," before bombing attack–Clinton calls him "creature.."

[Black Star News Editorial]

Just two years ago, on April 21, 2009, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with Mutassim Qathafi, Libya’s national security adviser and son of Maummar al-Qathafi at the State Department in Washington, D.C. to share intelligence.

How quickly things can turn around in this world. Yesterday, Clinton referred to al-Qathafi, Mutassim’s father, as a “creature.” This is cynical considering that just four weeks ago al-Qathafi still had good working relations with the United States, including sharing intelligence about global terrorism.

The Wall Street Journal
yesterday reported that in 2006, the U.S. released two al-Qaeda
suspects from Guantanamo to the care of Libya. The Journal reported that
CIA agents regularly visited Libya to check on these suspects who were
imprisoned in Tripoli.

Since the uprising started three weeks ago, relations quickly deteriorated. When it was imminent that a no-fly zone would be approved by the U.N. Security Council, Clinton yesterday started demonizing al-Qathafi, who until-recently, worked with the U.S. “There is no good choice here. If you don’t get him out and if you don’t support the opposition and he stays in power, there’s no telling what he will do,” Clinton  was saying yesterday, of Qathafi. “It’s just in his nature. There are some creatures that are like that.”

There’s a strategic reason for demonization–it means the party
demonized is being made a legitimate target for elimination. It means the U.S. might have made the decision that al-Qathafi is a possible candidate for assassination. The strong words are meant to psychologically prepare the world.

Remember Ronald Reagan tagged al-Qathafi as a “mad dog,” before the U.S. conducted the bombing attack against him in 1986, which he survived–the attack killed his young daughter.

It won’t be surprising if the U.K., France, and the U.S. have decided to try the Reagan approach again, in an attempt to quickly demoralize al-Qathafi’s supporters and soldiers.
