Who Needs “White Schools?
If urban school teachers would focus their attention to devising a system where their students would consistently out-grade suburban white students the way Thaddeus Lott did with poor Black Wesley Elementary School in Texas, then you will see some white outrage and Supreme Court landmark rulings
Clarence Thomas this, Clarence Thomas that!
African Americans are the only people in the world en masse who will watch someone do something over and over again and get mad at them when they do it one more time.
Evidently it’s still Brown People v. the Board of Education. I don’t know why many of us are upset with Clarence the Larynx; guy doesn't say nothing until its time to vote down some race measure.
He’s just doing his job. Bush’s father didn’t put him there so Black kids can go to school and sit next to the great grandchildren of his fellow "bonesmen." You shouldn’t even want that for Black youth. The only thing we should be concerned about is how well our children read, write, and do math and science.
So what if your son, grandson, or nephew’s inner city school only has a 1976 textbook? If you make sure they can read the “F” out of that book, they will be in much better position to fight for current textbooks when they graduate than they did when you were worried about what schools the Supreme Court were going to send them to.
So what if a white parent wants to transfer her kid because a school is becoming too Black? If inner city parents become more demanding of the urban schools their children attend, their kids will have a foundation to know and understand right and wrong in its purest form rather than the suburban art of twisting logic and history the way Supreme Court Justice John Roberts does. He claims his decision to limit school-by-school diversity is a move more faithful to the heritage of Brown v. The Board of Education.
What I’m proposing for Black parents and teachers of inner city Black students to do is to stop struggling to achieve diversity. It’s not that it isn’t a worthy aspiration; in fact it is and has been the most realistic way for white students to realize that when they grow up they will not enter into a world of all whites.
Black youth regardless of where they attend school have always known this; the ways of White America has been in our face since birth. Many white youth while living in lilly-white areas or rural America manifest an acute inability to deal with Blacks once they reach adulthood and move into various blue-collar or white-collar fields that range from executive to police officer.
These whites, in fact, are the ones that really need the exposure to diversity rather than the Black youth. The benefit to the Black kid lies more in the so-called advanced curriculum, up-to-date textbooks and superior teachers and staff over that of the urban schools.
My own exposure to mixed race schooling started during my middle-school years. I noticed no such great high scholastic intelligence from the white students that the Black students didn’t equal and all of us Black kids came from predominantly Black grade schools.
If urban school teachers would focus their attention to devising a system where their students would consistently out-grade suburban white students the way Thaddeus Lott did with poor Black Wesley Elementary School in Texas, then you will see some white outrage and Supreme Court landmark rulings.
Until then stop complaining about those dinosaurs on the Court and up your game with the limited quality tools and supplies inner city schools have and become a better communicator. What choice is there but to fight the fight?
