LeBron James ($86.2 million): American basketball star is the most paid black sports personality currently. He earns a whopping $31.2 million in salary and bonuses each year plus an additional $55 million in endorsement deals. The 33-year-old currently plays in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers. In his career, he has won many honours including 3 NBA Championships, 3 NBA Finals MVP Awards, and the NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

Kevin Durant ($60.6 million): Occupying second spot is another American basketball star, Kevin Durant. Kevin earns $26.6 million in salary and bonuses each year plus an additional $34 million in endorsement deals. He is currently playing for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. Among his career honours are one NBA Championship, one NBA Most Valuable Player Award, and two Olympic Gold medals.

Stephen Curry ($47.3 million): Stephen Curry occupies third spot on our list. Curry plays together with Kevin Durant for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. He earns $12.3 million from salary and bonuses and an additional $35 million from endorsement deals. To date, he has two NBA Championship medals and an NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

James Harden ($46.6 million): 28-year-old James Harden of the Houston Rockets in the NBA occupies our fourth spot. He earns $26.6 million in salary and bonuses and an additional $20 million in endorsement deals. Harden’s career honours include the All American and Pac 10 Player of the Year, third overall pick in NBA draft (2009), and the NBA Sixth Man of the Year.

Russell Westbrook ($38.6 million): Russell Westbrook completes our top five. He plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA. He earns $26.6 million in salary and bonuses and an additional $12 million in endorsement deals. Russell has been named six times in the NBA All-Star team and is a two time NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player.
