Sunday, August 21, 2016 Brooklynites especially Coney Islanders will be treated to a spectacular boxing event in the Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island’s Boardwalk in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The main event features 2 elite contenders and ex-Olympians in a 12 round I.B.F. Eliminator where the winner will then be the #1 contender to fight for the International Boxing Federation 147 pound Crown later this year of 2016, or early 2017.

Errol “The Truth” Spence, Jr. 20-0, 17 knockouts will face his toughest opponent to date in Leonard “The Lion” Bundu, 33-1-2, 12 k.o.’s from Toscana, Italy by way of Sierra Leone.

Thanks to DiBella Entertainment and Premier Boxing Champions this boxing event is a return to quality boxing in Coney Island’s Boardwalk new Ford Amphitheater in Brooklyn.

According to boxing history the last quality fight of the 20th century was Heavyweight Champion James J. Jefferies knocking out Bob Fitzsimmons in the 11th round, June 9, 1899. Certainly this is a long time between fights in Coney Island and, also outdoors.

In addition to this very exciting main event between Bundu and Spence the supporting preliminary fights will feature a who’s who of up and coming young undefeated talent looking for a victory so that they can then be world title contenders and of course future world champs in their weight levels.

Claudio Marrero, 20-1, 14 knockouts, Santo Domingo vs. Luis Hinojosa, 28-9, 17 k.o.’s, Bronx, N.Y. , Abraham Nova 1-0, 1 k.o. vs. Wilfredo Garriga, 3-2-1, 2 k.o.’s Julian Sosa 5-0-1, 2 k.o.’s vs. Rene Marquez, 5-2, 2k.o.’s , Joseph Williams, 9-0, 7 k.o.’s vs. Chris Harris 2-0, 2 k.o.’s, Chordale Booker, 2-0, 2 k.o.’s vs. Brandon Phillips-Black, 1-1.

Completing this exciting 7 bout fight card we will see a championship grudge match between 2 of the best in the women’s boxing division. Heather “The Heat” Hardy, 17-0, 14 knockouts, Brooklyn, N.Y., and current W.B.C. International Women’s Featherweight Champion will defend her title against number 1 contender, Shelly “Shelito’s Way” Vincent, 19-0, 1 k.o.,Providence, Rhode Island.

“A lot of people have been waiting for this fight and I am glad that finally I am fighting Shelly to shut her mouth up. She has been challenging me and saying that she will take my title from me so here is her chance,” stated Champ Hardy.

“Whether it is by knockout or decision I’ll still win” Hardy declared defiantly, “I have worked too hard lose to her”.

A smiling stocky Vincent declared, “I have waited for a long time to fight her and I did not come all the way from Providence, Rhode Island to lose. The only way I go home defeated is because I was robbed by a home town decision. So don’t blink because this fight will be non-stop action, and I’ll be the new champ.”

This championship fight between Hardy and Vincent has been billed as the co-main event.

Errol Spence, Jr. who is on a 7 straight knockout streak must win this eliminator fight with Leonard Bundu to allow him to fight the current I.B.F. Welterweight Champion Kell Brook, 36-0, 25 knockouts who at the present time is preparing to fight Gennady “3G’ Golovkin, 35-0, 32 k.o.’s for the W.B.C., I.B.F., I.B.O. Middleweight Crowns.

This fight will take place on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the 02 Arena, London, England.

The wisdom of Errol Spence, Jr. having to go through another ring test to be the #1 I.B.F. contender makes sense since having defeated Chris Algieri by a 5th round knockout was not really a test even though Algieri survived the punching powers of Manny Pacquiao, Ruslan Provodnikov, and Amir Khan.

If Spence defeats Bundu it is obvious that he will have to wait a long time to fight Brook since 3G is a machine of destruction and Brook is moving up 2 weight divisions, and although every fighter has a puncher’s chance to win, the consensus of opinion of the boxing experts is that Brook is “committing boxing suicide”.

Challenging 3G is similar to when Amir Khan a 147 pounder, also went up 2 weight divisions to fight Canelo Alvarez, and was knocked unconscious in the 6th round.

Standing in Spence’s way is the veteran Bundu who has proven to be a worthwhile contender who although he has fought mostly in Italy is the European Union Welterweight Champion and his only loss was to Keith “One Time” Thurman, the current W.B.A. 147 Pound Champ.

According to Bundu, “this fight with Spence will be easier than with Thurman since Spence comes at you and all that Thurman did was run all night avoiding my hard punches. I like when a fighter comes to me, I like the in-fighting because that is my strength”.

Bundu then stated, “After this fight I’ll be the mandatory I.B.F. challenger for Brook. I also have been chasing him for a long time”.

This fight is a puzzle to figure out simply because you have a young undefeated ex-Olympian hoping for a title fight if he defeats an elite fighter-Bundu- who has an impressive fight record with a world crown that he defended successfully 6 times.

Does that make Bundu an underdog? I don’t think so because he has proven although older-41 years-he has the veteran capabilities to upset the younger upstart and also ex-Olympian Spence, who has the look of a choir boy.

Black Star News will wait for the first bell to ring in this elimination fistic contest to determine who the winner will be, but, then it might be ruled a draw.

The best fight of the night could be between “The Heat” Hardy vs. “Chelito’s Way” Vincent, so stay tuned.
