Randy Moss MVP

Okay, New England did it. And most likely Tom Brady will grab the MVP honors or Brett Favre. But in my opinion, the real MVP in the NFL is Randy Moss. Think not? Who did Brady hit for that winning score against the Giants? Both the pass and the catch were record breaking.

Well some things need to be said even though I am far off the New York scene in lovely Fortaleza, Brazil.

While here, I am constantly surrounded by some of the most beautiful women God created. Happy New Year to all.  Although in some cases, America has cast a negative vibe, I find the people in Brazil to be nice and friendly.

Okay, New England did it. And most likely Tom Brady will grab the MVP honors or Brett Favre. But in my opinion, the real MVP in the NFL is Randy Moss. Think not? Who did Brady hit for that winning score against the Giants? Both the pass and the catch were record breaking.

Moss surpassed JerryRice for the most touchdown catches. And Brady, on the very same play, surpassed PaytonManning for the most touchdown passes. I congratulate these gents for the making of a perfect season history.

Hey, New York -- the Giants finally won a big game. I must also give them credit for raising some hell against the Patriots in the season finale that found New England obtaining both history and the perfect 16-0 season. Well the San Diego Chargers finally got into the win column in the playoffs. Even I took notice of that here in sunny and lovely Fortaleza.

Did anybody really think RickyHatton had a chance against FloydMayweatherJr.? Answering my own question—Yes, some so-called experts did. Mayweather not only won but did so using Hatton type procedures, by proceeding to knock him out.

While viewing the fight at the renowned Zippy Club here in Fortaleza, Brazil, I noticed that Paulie Malgionni won over the weekend. Paulie is a big Pernell Whitaker fan and fights just like him in the sense that he runs, taps and is very, very boring and over-rated too.

Good to see Buddy McGirt in his corner. Buddy celebrates another birthday on the 17th of this month with none other than the “great” and “greatest” Muhammad Ali. Roy Jones Jr. is due to fight Tito Trinidad on January 19th, three days after he celebrates another birthday. Bernard Hopkins’s birthday is on the 15th. Lucky him, that days also belongs to the legend, Dr. MartinLutherKing, Jr.

While I am mentioning birthdays --let me say Happy Birthday to my mother, VivianStanley whose birthday is on the 21st. Belated birthday greetings to my daughter Turquoise whose birthday was Jan 2nd.  She is named after her Godmother, the former Mrs.Turquiose.  Birthday wishes to “Dr. J” Erving and my grandson Tariq on the 25th. Marla Barfield wife of former Yankee and 1986 American League Home Run Champion Jesse Barfield, celebrated hers on Jan. 4th.

MarionB.Boykin, the greatest Boxing mind of our time and host of the greatest Boxing show in cable television history, BOYKIN ON BOXING, his wife, and Sports Editor of the NY Beacon Marc Rasbury, celebrated the New Year with their Jan.1st birthdays. I was in Belem thank GOD celebrating the New Year with BillyPaul, DecioCotomacio Jr. and company. Cotomacio was the co-promoter of the New Year Eve gala we attended.

Wow, it was about time somebody pointed a finger at Roger Clemens in all this steroid scandal talk. True or not, it is about time it was questioned.

It’s interesting that the so-called intelligent New York fans raised hell about Isiah Thomas while allowing Larry Brown to escape without questioning him about his one big paid losing season.

Did you know: That great 1976 Olympic boxing team had Ray Leonard, John Tate, Leo Randolph, Howard Davis Jr., and both Spinks Brothers Mike and Leon—Davis was tabbed as the best of the lot yet he never won a world title. Joe Frazier and the late great Bob Hayes, once the world’s fastest man, were Olympic roommates.

Well, back to Brazil and more fun. GOD Bless.

TRUST IN GOD.
