The FBI Wednesday arrested three Brooklyn men who allegedly planned to join the Islamic State (ISIS).

According to the Department of Justice two of the three suspects aimed to return to New York and carry out a terror attack if they failed to join up with ISIS.

The three were identified as: Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev, 24; Akhror Saidakhmetov, 19; and, Abror Habibov, 30. Juraboev and Habivov are citizens of Uzbekistan, and Saidakhmetov is a citizen of Kazakhstan.

Saidakhmetov was captured at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight to Turkey, the DOJ said.

Loretta Lynch, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said in a statement: “We will vigorously prosecute those who attempt to travel to Syria to wage violent jihad on behalf of ISIL and those who support them.”

Adam Perlmutter, an attorney for Saidakhmetov, said there was a rush to judgment.

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer said, “This foiled ISIS plot sends shivers down the spine of New Yorkers and clearly underscores that we must remain ever-vigilant in the face of terror threats, and that funding our national security must be a top priority of the federal government, at all times. While details are still emerging, it is reassuring to know that the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force has had eyes on these would-be terrorists for months. We have the best law enforcement community in the world protecting us each and every day.”

Meanwhile, Jumaane Williams, who represents Brooklyn’s 45th District in the New York City Council said: “As we wait for this investigation to unfold,  I would first like to thank the FBI and law enforcement officials for their diligent efforts to keep New Yorkers safe. Just as NYPD Commissioner Bratton said and as all New Yorkers know, terrorism threats are very real. At the same time, we must not fall victim to mass hysteria and should try to carry on as normal.”

He added, “In addition, there is no time for our elected officials in D.C. to engage in political rhetoric. Funding the U.S. Department of Homeland Security must be a met with urgency, so it’s my hope that today’s alleged threat refocuses our federal government’s priorities to resolve this before the impending deadline.”
