According to the New Jersey Attorney General’s office a man was killed by police on Wednesday at the Princeton Meadows Apartment Complex in Plainsboro, where the unidentified man apparently lived.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s office stated that “the shooting occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Ravens Crest Drive in Plainsboro, N.J. Law enforcement officers, including members of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office, were outside a residence when they encountered the decedent. During the encounter, one officer discharged his service weapon, fatally wounding the man. A knife was recovered near the man. Officers and emergency medical personnel rendered first aid to the individual, who was transported to Princeton Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 12:10 p.m.”

Eyewitness Janardhan Chejarla said he saw part of the altercation between the man and the officers.

“They were like 20 to 30 cops like, surrounding the guy,” Chejarla said. “And then the guy ran back again, and then the guy like ran back. And within two minutes they him.”

It is still unclear why law enforcement targeted this still unidentified man.
