SECOND BOSTON BOMBING SUSPECT IS CAPTURED AFTER MASSIVE MANHUNT
[Boston Marathon Bombing]
The second suspect in the Boston bombing was captured Friday after a daylong search hours after his brother was killed earlier in a gunfight with police.
Captured late Friday was 19-year old Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev. The authorities say he was found hiding in a boat by the owner who followed a blood trail, then alerted police.
His older brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, died hours earlier in a Boston hospital of multiple gunshot wounds. Boston Police and F.B.I. investigators had converged on the brothers shortly after the two were involved in a shootout with M.I.T. campus police, leading to the death of one officer and wounding of his colleague.
Police then engaged the brothers in a gunfight and while the older brother was mortally wounded the younger one managed to escape when he drove a car through police barricades. The authorities practically locked down Boston, warning people to stay inside their homes. After door-to-door search of homes in nearby Watertown, Mass., the younger Tsarnaev was found wounded from the earlier shootout and hiding in the boat.
The brothers are suspects in the deadly bombing near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday that killed three people and wounded more than 170 with many losing their legs.
The suspects were either dead or in captivity about 24 hours after the F.B.I. first posted their pictures and videos showing the brothers and asked the public to help authorities capture them.
