A Forney woman has been accused of assaulting a public servant during an incident the woman’s relatives have called a case of police brutality.

Antanique Ray, 41, was arrested Tuesday after a Kaufman County sheriff’s deputy restrained her daughter, 18-year-old Nekia Trigg, as the teenager walked through a Forney neighborhood.

Part of the incident was captured on cellphone video, and the Sheriff’s Office said it is under investigation.

Officials said deputies were called to Rambling Way in the Deerfield Heights development, where someone had reported a female was jumping in and out of traffic.

The seven-minute video that has been shared widely on social media begins when a deputy already has pinned Trigg to the ground in the front yard of a home.

Ray approaches them and asks why the deputy needs to hold Trigg down. The deputy, whose name badge says “Martin,” tells her to back up and begins yelling, “Do not touch me! Back up! Back up!” as Trigg screams beneath him.
