[Black Vietnam Vets Tribute]

January 27th 2013 marked the 40th anniversary of the ending of the Vietnam War.

This conflict cost the lives of over 3 million people, of which 58,000 were US soldiers and half of the casualties were Vietnamese civilians.   In recognition of this historic event, Cultural Caravan TV will present a two-part special, beginning Wednesday, April 23 at 4:30pm on NYC-Life Channel 25 and Channel 22.

Part One will feature an eyewitness account by Dr. William Seraile, Professor Emeritus of African and African American studies at Lehman College, who served as one of the few African American civilian volunteers in Vietnam during the conflict.

He shares rare insight on the impact that this conflict had on the Vietnamese civilians as well as Americans who served as soldiers and volunteers during the war. Part two, will feature a spotlight on Black Veterans for Social Justice (BVSJ) which was founded in 1979 to support Black veterans who were returning home from the Vietnam War.
