Golden Goliath: Mugabe, Kim, and Other World Leaders as Psychiatrists for Donald Trump

Giant Golden Goliath shrunk? Trump as patient before world leaders.

From: The Unauthorized Psychoanalysis of Donald Trump–part eight.

Trump the Diplomat: President Trump tried to say something nice to Black people last week. At a luncheon of African leaders, Trump said that the healthcare system of “Nambia” was “Increasingly self-sufficient.”

The bad news is that there is no country called Nambia in Africa or anywhere else on the planet. However, there are two African nations that arguably sound alike: Zambia and Namibia. After this Gaff, White House spokespeople said that Donald meant Namibia. That’s their story and they are sticking to it.

As a psychiatrist I will go on record that this Gaff by Trump does not represent psychosis. It represents simple ignorance and disorientation. These are not insults they are formal scientific terms to describe specific states of knowledge. Ignorance is the absence of knowledge and orientation is the knowledge of who one is, where one is and what time it is.

Cognitive Therapy From Dr. Mugabe: “Dr.” Robert Mugabe, the president of Zimbabwe, during his address to the General Assembly of the United Nations tried to orient Donald Trump to the 21st Century and to provide him with some basic general information, basic current events and basic history regarding Africa and the world. He informed Mr. Trump that “Climate change is a reality.” He extended condolences to the victims of recent “Superstorms” in the Caribbean and emphasized the Island of Puerto Rico which is one Spanish speaking Country for which Mr. Trump has not yet proposed a wall, deportation or travel ban– perhaps because it is claimed as a Territory of the United States.

There, in recent weeks several people were killed, hundreds were made homeless and 1.5 million had electrical power knocked out by superstorms and climate change in which President Trump does not believe. Dr. Mugabe spoke of being “embarrassed, if not frightened,” by what appeared o be “the return of the biblical Giant Gold Goliath.”

Big Hair Big Noise Big Threats: This was thought by some to be not only an allusion to Mr. Trump’s anachronistic, unscientific and ahistorical political stance but Mr. Trump’s grandiosity, hair color and style. Mugabe provided even more information and reality testing to Trump with a little word play, saying, “Mr. Trump, please blow your trumpet — blow your trumpet in a musical way towards the values of unity, peace, cooperation, togetherness, dialogue, which we have always 0stood for and which are well-writ in our very sacred document, the Charter of the United Nations.” He encouraged Mr. Trump to adhere to those principles rather than threaten “extinction of other countries” or “damnation” which he said would be met with stiff “resistance.”

In an attempt to discourage Mr. Trump’s legendary impulsivity and bolster Mr. Trump’s consequential thinking, Dr. Mugabe reminded Trump that little Zimbabwe had gained its freedom by defeating the “monster of imperialism.” He warned Trump that if he should, “bring us another monster … he will meet the same consequence.” Translation: Who are you? You are not Goliath anymore. Where are you? This is Zimbabwe which has defeated Imperialism, not your claimed territory of Puerto Rico, just ravished by Superstorms that would be the better focus of your attention.

When is this? This is the 20th Century and if you try to turn back the clock there will be consequences that you do not want. This should be called psychotherapy at its finest. For at the end of the day all Psychotherapy is learning. If only this patient had the capacity to learn.

Electro Convulsive Therapy From Dr. Kim Jong Un: Earlier in the month Donald Trump had given another in a long list of signals that he cannot learn when he shocked the General Assembly by calling another head of state, President Kim Jong Un, “Rocket man” and repeated his earlier threats to “totally destroy” the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea which he refers to as North Korea. This was not a subtly worded biblical allusion stated in a hypothetical, as Mr. Mugabe’s Goliath comment, but a direct ad hominem uttered during the General Assembly of Nations toward another head of state. In response, “Dr.” Kim Jong Un, President of The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea registered his assessment that Trump is an unlikely patient to respond to insight oriented therapy. “Dr.” Kim Jong Un apparently favoring shock for this type of patient issued a concise one word Diagnosis of Donald Trump— “Dotard.” This is a word which essentially means someone who has grown senile. More than a few professionals have expressed sentiments similar to President Kim Jon Un but none so concisely.

Primary Process & Parallel Process: To be exact, at the moment of this writing, 62,356 mental health clinicians have gone so far as to sign a petition calling Trump mentally unfit for office. Some have cited his rambling speaking style, his irritability, his making unsubstantiated claims such as his allegation that Mr. Obama wire tapped Trump Tower, his making ahistorical statements placing Andrew Jackson in the time frame of the Civil War or implying that he thinks Frederick Douglass is still alive.

As this list of professionals and world leaders calling him unfit grows longer, Trump seems to grow ever more determined to prove them right. In Alabama while participating in the Republican “Primary Process,” pun totally intended, Trump put in his bid for increasing Traumatic Brain Injury and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy and a return to African forced compliance with slavery. Regarding the epidemic in Concussion Syndrome, Trump advised, less regulation and attempts to control the violence of football saying, “They are ruining the game, right? They are ruining the game. Look, that’s what they want to do. They want to hit. They want to hit.”

Amped up by the cheers, Trump began to appeal to the even more primal and divisive sentiments of this Republican crowd in Alabama, one of the five states that still have Confederate symbols in their state flags. “You know what’s hurting the game more than that?” asked Trump. “When people like yourselves turn on television and you see those people taking the knee when they are playing our great national anthem.”

In a clear allusion to the sentiments expressed around Charlottesville, Trump whined about the “Total disrespect of our heritage, a total disrespect of everything that we stand for. Everything that we stand for.” Get that tar burning boys. Trump didn’t really mention tar but that’s what he meant. Don’t be surprised if one day he calls for the tar. Expect anything from a man who still uses the B-word even as 24 women actively accuse him of sexually inappropriate behaviors, comments and abuse. What Trump actually did say was, “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. He is fired. He’s fired!'”

That’s the same thing many are hoping that soon 67 Senators and 218 Members of the House of Representatives will say to Donald Trump. Roger Stone a long time associate of President Trump, predicts violence if Trump is impeached. World leaders are predicting worse violence if he is not.

No Refuge Could Save The Hireling & Slave?: Trump seems not to have learned the lesson dictators around the world have had to learn. You can kill a revolutionary but you cannot kill the revolution. Trump may have thought he was beating a dead horse while in Alabama taking superfluous kicks at the already fired or not hired Colin Kaepernick, but he has poured fuel on rebellion in the NFL.

Hundreds of players this week, inspired by Colin Kaepernick, and provoked by Trump either took a knee during the national anthem, linked arms during the song, or stayed in the locker room or tunnel until the anthem was over. At least 2 national anthem singers Rico Lavell and Meghan Linsey took a knee at NFL football games, this week near the end of their performances. Lavelle even threw up a Black Power Salute. Stevie Wonder made reference to these protests and during his performance in Central Park this weekend in a slap against Trump’s divisiveness, took a knee in protest, then two knees, he said, “in prayer for our planet, our future, our leaders of the world and our globe.

Trump’s ability to split groups, inspire anger, miscalculate the response of others should not be taken lightly. if this reckless, impulsive dotard, in possession of nuclear weapons and codes calling for fire and fury against another nuclear power is not impeached and removed from office, this week’s events in the NFL should be seen as a microcosmic harbinger of things to come internationally where the games are played with bullets and bombs not footballs.
