British Filmmaker Steve McQueen's "Mangrove" film has greatly improved the awareness of the Mangrove Nine trial and systematic racism in the U.K.

But let that not be the only case of injustice of young Africans that you know.

There are several cases, some ending up in the Old Bailey, (the central criminal court of England and Wales) that may not be as well-known as the Mangrove Nine, but still worth knowing about!

On Monday 23, Kwaku BBM (Black Music Congress founder)  will be making a video assisted presentation that highlights important cases such as the: Lewisham 24, Islington 18, Cricklewood 12, Burning Spear Club 6, Oval House 4, Oval 4, Old Bailey 3, Tottenham Court Road 2, etc.

Helping out, and adding their intimate lived experiences of some of these cases will be community activist and independent historian Cecil Gutzmore, filmmaker Menelik Shabazz, former police officer Dr. Leroy Logan, and community activist and Bonfire Night 12 defendant Claude Hendrickson.

Police And The Criminalising Of The African British Youths By Numbers.

This event also covers little known histories, barring the Mangrove Nine case (this event marks Mangrove Nine @ 50), of the criminalisation of African youths and their negative engagement with the police, which sadly continues in spite of anti-racism training and recruitment of AAME (African, Asian, Minority Ethnic) officers into the service.
