PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Prairie View A&M University hosted a moderated talk and master class Thursday featuring its inaugural activist-in-residence Melina Abdullah and writer-in-residence Nikki Giovanni.
Giovanni and Abdullah mentored students on becoming activists and agents of change on an HBCU campus.
Melina Abdullah
Abdullah is an author, educator, activist, and co-founder of the Los Angeles Chapter of BLM.
Giovanni is an activist, educator, noble laureate poet, and children’s author.
Nikki Giovanni
Their moderated talk was titled “Teaching to Transgress: Activism, Writing, and HBCUs.”
