Donna Moore’s UnBalancing Act

Drew Davis of NY Magazine says, “This one-woman dynamo sings and jokes from the heart. She should be on Broadway, surrounded by other stars. Check out her intimate stage show, before the HBO special hits!

(Donna Moore–win’s praises from NY Magazine).

For some people, taking three steps forward and two steps back might seem like a cause for frustration.

That’s not the case, however, with Donna Moore — she’s decided to turn life’s challenges into inspirational humor with her new musical-comedy show, “The unBalancing Act: A Cougar of a Musical.â€?

A follow-up to her highly successful “The Balancing Act, Moore’s new show is a tribute to the human spirit; namely how one chick has learned to survive. The singer, actress, and comic monologist describes the show as “Barbie meets Desperate Housewives on Demi and Ashton’s lawn. Always one to heavily incorporate her own life experiences into her shows, Moore based her humorous newest script on a long-held personal philosophy. “In life, we often take three steps forward, then two steps back, says Moore, “but no matter where you land, you can make lemonade out of lemons!

This philosophy is explored through the many facets that she covers in her new production—everything from her experiences as a child actor on ZOOM (“I left the show and, instead of my life turning into reality T.V., it turned from T.V. into reality) to raise her two daughters as a single mother. Other highlights included in her show involve material about her “survival jobs (i.e. performing at children’s birthday parties) and her emergence as a COUGAR after her marriage and subsequent divorce.

In typical Moore fashion, the show features original music and comedy with a cabaret twist. Incidentally, Moore personally composed the lyrics to five of the show’s songs. One of these songs, “THE COUGAR, features a comical look at the phenomenon of twenty-something men falling for thirty-something/forty-something women a la Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. Moore invites different female guest artists, who will be rotated on a monthly basis, to perform Cougar with her at each show.

Despite her highly successful previous shows, many individuals who have watched Moore develop throughout her career feel that she is still climbing toward her peak of success – mostly because the expectations for her seem to be extremely high within the entertainment industry. Drew Davis of NY Magazine says, “This one-woman dynamo sings and jokes from the heart. She should be on Broadway, surrounded by other stars. Check out her intimate stage show, before the HBO special hits! Other critics have shared this opinion, calling Moore “fascinating and entertaining and “a solid…mature performer.
