Terri and Timothy Childs with Roger Hess present a jolly Christmas adventure via that age old tale “A Christmas Carol” playing at the St. Clement’s Theatre, located at 423 West 46th Street in Manhattan. The play opened November 25thand features the same beloved characters we know so well, the irascible and stingy Ebenezer Scrooge, his dead partner Jacob Marley, Scrooge’s nephew Fred, his clerk Bob Cratchit and Cratchit’s son, little Tiny Tim.

Directed by Joe Calarco and adapted by Patrick Barlow, the set design is by Brian Prather, lighting by Chris Lee, sound by Victoria Delorio and costume design by Anne Kennedy.  The cast consists of 5 characters played by Peter Bradbury as Scrooge, Mark Light-Orr, Jessie Shelton, Franca Vercelloni and Mark Price, alternating between roles.

Bradbury does not disappoint as Scrooge and all the cast put a witty and delightful spin on Charles Dickins’ classic tale.  Although the actor portraying Tiny Tim was rather wooden in his delivery, he was a delight to view nevertheless and was quite creative in the embodiment of his character.

Although the set was sparse the actors made good use of imagination, props and their personal vitality as they transformed the miserly Scrooge through the visitation of Ghosts of Past, Present and Future.

The last play runs Saturday January 4th with a 2:00 matinee and an evening performance at 8:00 pm.  I recommend this play as it is truly a delight and a bit unusual in its delivery. For tickets priced at $75, call the box office at 212-239-6200 or go on line at www.Telecharge.com
