Beautiful Syma; Journalist

“I have big goals and the fire in my belly is still burning very bright, the beautiful tall Syma continues.

Our Model Of The Day

Model and broadcast journalist, Syma Chowdhry whose Zodiac sign is Scorpio was born on Staten Island, New York and moved to the New Jersey shore when she was three.

“I also lived in Philadelphia for five years,” she tells The Black Star News. “I loved it there and became a die hard Eagles fan. Then I moved to North Carolina to begin my career in journalism.”

“The most important things I learned from my parents are that you can do anything in life, as long as you believe in your dreams and believe in God,” Syma adds. “They both came to this country in the 1970’s; they came separately, but met here. My parents came to this country with only a few dollars in their pocket and became the epitome of the American Dream.”

Syma attended Temple University and remains a loyal Owls fan. “I launched my career in my teenage years, because I competed in pageants—former Miss New Jersey Teen, for the Miss United States Teen competition, and right before heading off to college, I became a host for a local TV show,” she says.

“I have big goals and the fire in my belly is still burning very bright,” the beautiful tall Syma continues. “My first job was at Time Warner Cable’s News 14 Carolina. I started off as a web producer and in six months I convinced my news director to let me be a features reporter. Right now I’m happy that I’m an entertainment reporter on a national network called The University Network. I get to meet and interview celebrities at junkets and red carpets. I want to work with a bigger network or cable channel someday soon.” Syma is also an associate producer with News 12 New Jersey and a producer and host for a cooking segment on The University Network.

“I can’t imagine my life without becoming successful,” adds the determined go-getter. “Failure is not an option for me. I know I am meant to be a reporter and host.”

“The biggest challenge is trying to convince those who are looking for blonde-hair, blue-eye talent to give me a try,” Syma adds, when asked about how she deals with roadblocks in her industry. “Sometimes the biggest hurdles have nothing to do with talent or experience, but rather a ‘look.’”

Among Syma’s numerous accomplishments thus far: host on  ImaginAsianTV; reporter on The University Network; model on The Rachael Ray Show; an appearance on Law  &  Order  Criminal  Intent; a bikini model on MTV Beach House; cosmetics modeling; Bibi magazine, runway model; and, numerous others.

“Let’s be honest,” Syma says, when asked why it’s critical to combine brainpower with beauty. “We live in a very superficial world. But if looks can get you through the door, brains and personality will make sure you won’t let the door hit you, where the good Lord split you.”

“Being on-air talent means I do have to take care of myself on the outside,” she continues. “But what will I look like 20 years from now? My career can continue rising in many different ways as long as I can be the brains behind the operations.”

How does this elegant beauty prepare to step out? “I am practically a walking mannequin for Arden B; I love all their outfits,” she says. “It looks great in person and on air. I get so many compliments. I also mainly wear Seven For All Mankind jeans. I love Bobby Brown, MAC and Bare Essentials makeup. The perfumes I use are Curve Crush, Ralph Lauren Blue and Ralph Lauren Hot. I love warm, sweet smells on myself. Shoes; Aldo, Bakers, Jessica Simpson and Carlos by Carlos Santana.”

Syma’s Words Of Wisdom: “Don’t let anyone tell you ‘you can’t do it.’”
Syma’s Secrets Of Success: “Never giving up. Nothing in life is easy, which is why the biggest rewards are so hard to get.”
Syma’s Favorite Three Movies: “Ghost, Exorcist and Wedding Singer.”
Syma’s Favorite Books: “Anything by Sophie Kinsella.”
Leaders That Have Most Inspired Syma: “Della Crews, an anchor from News 12 New Jersey. She is amazing! I have the honor to work with her. She is so positive – Whenever I am down about my career, she gives me a dose of inspiration; Oprah Winfrey. Her story inspires me so much. The odds were against her, yet she became the one of the most influential woman in the world. Her kindness allows her to help others and uses her money to assist many people in need.”
The First Three Things Syma Would Do As President: “I’m very concerned about poverty, disease, saving the environment, preserving wildlife, and maintaining human rights. Not to be funny, but those usually do not top many politicians’ to-do list—maybe while they are campaigning, but not while serving.  I’ve traveled internationally recently, and sometimes I wish people would leave the comfort of their own box and open their eyes to the rest of the world. Children are dying of hunger, while some children in the USA are dying for iPods.”

Syma’s Favorite Cars: “I love Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and all those luxury cars. But I am really considering my next car to be hybrid. The good thing about living and working in New York City, cars are optional.”

A Short Syma Story: “Here is a funny story. I’ve always been mistaken for a huge Bollywood actress named Shilpa Shetty. I don’t think I look anything like her but people come up to me and talk to me as if I am her. One time in JFK, I was catching a flight to Dubai. Three different employees at JFK thought I was Shilpa Shetty. I can’t ever be around Bollywood fans without someone mentioning I look like Shilpa Shetty or they thought I was really the actress!”
