Breaking Barriers: Mberry Faye

Where She’s From: Twenty-one year old Mberry  was born in Belgium and raised in
Gambia, West Africa and in London, U.K., where she now lives. “I was spotted by a
photographer while I was studying near my college, who took a few photos of me and sent them to a few agencies and, as they say, the rest is history,� Mberry recalls.

Indeed. Since that fortunate encounter, she’s been featured in Dazed and Confused magazine, Tatler, Black Beauty, on a few music videos, and on television. “I have also done shows for l`oreal, French connection, Vanessa Galvin, just to name a few,� she adds.

Where She’s Heading: “I would like to move into acting,� Mberry tells The Black Star News. “Presently, I am also working on setting up a charity. I have so many things that I want to do. I look at modeling as a business which I take very seriously, but I also have a lot of fun with it. You never know what you’re going to be doing next.�
Mberry is determined to open opportunities for others in the industry. “I hope to break down barriers and pave the way for other women of color,� she adds. “Because we are beautiful and have what it takes—you just have to work hard
and never give up on your dreams.�
