Chicago's Lovely Dominique

-A +A

[Our Beauty Of The Day]

Where She’s From:
Dominique James, a Pisces, was born in Chicago and was pretty much raised there as well. “The most important things I've learned from my parents is to keep God first in everything you do,” she tells The Black Star News. “They always tell me ‘shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you'll be among the stars.’ That's become something of my motto now; it inspires me to go after my goals.”

“I just recently graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's degree in advertising, specializing in public relations,” she continues. “I began modeling in my junior year in college about a year and a half ago.”

Where She’s At:
“I'm still trying to get a good foot in the door,” Dominique added. “I see my career going in wonderful directions. I hope to build some notoriety for myself so that I can begin to build my image as a brand.”

“ I'm most proud of my degree,” the newly minted graduate adds. “It’s been a long, hard road and I'm just really proud of myself. As for modeling, I recently starred in a couple of commercials and that was exciting.”

“I think a pretty face can only get you so far,” cautions Dominique. “You should always be able to take care of yourself and without knowledge, that's impossible.”

So how does this young model and aspiring public relations pro prepare to step out? “I love make up, MAC is my favorite because they have such a wide variety of quality products. I also like L'oreal's HIP line. I love channel perfume. I'm a jean freak. I love Baby Phat, True Religion, and Citizens Of Humanity because they fit great, I’m tall.”

Dominique’s Words Of Wisdom: “Keep God first and everything will fall into place according to his will.”
Dominique’s Secrets Of Success: “Stay positive and work with integrity. Treat people how you want to be treated.”
Dominique’s Favorite Movies: “Love and Basketball, Transformers.”
Dominique’s Favorite Three Books: “The Coldest Winter Ever, The Book Of Matthew in the bible, and Angela Davis’ an autobiography.”
Three Leaders That Most Inspire Dominique: “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Angela Davis, and my mother.”
The First Three Things Dominique’s Would Do As President: “End the war, balance the budget and do something about this health care crisis.”
Dominique’s Favorite Cars: “I've always wanted an all black clk Mercedes Benz, convertible of course. There's something sexy and feminine about that car and I look great behind the wheel.”
Dominique’s Favorite Entertainers: “Alicia Keys and Jay Z.”
Dominique’s Five Favorite Websites: “Myspace,,,”
