Elizabeth; Supermodel-In-Waiting

[Our Model Of The Day]

Where She’s From:
Elizabeth Ashley was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at W.W. Hastings Indian Hospital and moved around a few times, spending most of her childhood in Houston, Texas and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“I have a huge family so I've had the opportunity to learn from older relatives what to do and what not to do,” she tells The Black Star News. “I would have to say that the most important thing I learned from my parents would definitely be to keep God first at all times. When you don't, things start to go wrong!”

Ashley went to high school at Broken Arrow H.S. and attended college at the University of Oklahoma. “I have always aspired to model but I began to get serious about it about a year ago. I got an agent and started getting actual paid jobs,” she adds.

Where She’s At:
“Although I have had so many opportunities already, I have so much that I have yet to accomplish and this is definitely just the tip of the iceberg,” the young beauty continues—and we dare not disagree with her.

“I will not stop until I have my own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! I see myself going straight to the top. I am extremely driven and will not stop until everyone knows my name. I want to be the next Tyra, Naomi, or Eva. In addition to being a model, I also aspire to act and produce my own line of clothing and apparel. I am going to be a mogul.”

“Honestly, there are so many challenges and obstacles that come your way when you are in this business that it is hard to pinpoint just one,” Ashley adds, when asked how she deals with challenges in the industry. “I simply look at them as chances to learn and grow and become a better person.”

Ashley has already been on several campaigns, including commercials for Texas Land and Cattle Co. and Bank of Oklahoma and billboards for Osage Nation Casino and on runway shows. Readers who are familiar with Essence Bestseller Crystal Perkins-Stell’s and Anthony Fields’ book should also take another look at its cover; that’s right, that’s Ashley.

“I am also in the process of starting my own public relations firm, Diamond Cut Imaging, with my partner Courtney Thompson. I am very excited about getting that off the ground,” Ashley says.

“My mother always says, ‘Beauty is a gift,’” she continues. “Beauty is only skin deep and it will only get you so far. There are a million beautiful women in this world but to find a beautiful, intelligent, articulate, and strong woman is a gift. Once you are in the door you have to be able to use your brain to make it to the top. You have to be able to stay grounded and be a businesswoman above all else.”

So how does this beautiful entrepreneur and model prepare to step out?

“I absolutely love Bebe-their clothes and shoes. I also like Express, BCBG, H&M, and jeans from Urban Outfitters. I like good quality and soft fabrics. My favorite perfume is Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf,” Ashley says. “I use St. Ives lotion or Victoria's Secret body lotions and body sprays. I also cocoa butter and body creams-soft skin is a must. I try different types of make-up but I mostly stick to MAC and Mary Kay.”

“I have been blessed and the best is yet to come,” Ashley adds.
