Michelle Bernard, whose Zodiac sign is Caner, was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and raised in Miami, Florida.

“Promptly, after my family and I moved to Miami, my parents were divorced. My mother was left to care for two children on her own, in a strange country where Spanish was not the first language, she tells The Black Star News.  “She was so determined for us to have a good life. She set aside her disappointments and made our dreams her own. I learned very early on just how strong woman are.

Michelle went to New World School of the Performing Arts High school. “I was a dancer for 12 years; specializing in ballet, jazz, tap, and modern dance, she continues. “I loved my high school. It housed creativity and progression. It was just like the movie Fame. While I was in college I entered a modeling contest at a local mall, which is where it all began.

Soon after her debut, Michelle signed with Ford Modeling Agency and has since worked for the top fashion and commercial institutions all over the world. This includes but is certainly not limited to: Armani, Tommy Hilfiger, Phat Farm, Baby Phat, Enyce, Target, Macy’s, Glamour, Glamour en Español, Cosmopolitan, Vibe, and Seventeen Magazine.

Michelle wants to eventually transition to TV hosting. “That is a great passion of mine, she explains. “I have a degree in Psychology and would like to use that as a tool to eventually having my own TV show. Aside, from that I have a lot of goals. I want to launch my own lingerie and apparel company. I want to produce as well. I want to do it all. I’m taking this world by storm.

“My biggest challenge is the journey, Michelle continues. “Nothing worth having is easy. My faith in God is what keeps me going. I pray to him and I talk to him, he always delivers.

Michelle says it wasn’t easy modeling and going to school at the same time. “I am most proud of the fact that I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelors degree in Psychology as well as other honors,  Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Seal, Psi Chi, National Honors Society, from Florida International University, she reveals. “I am also proud of the work I've done for several magazines and companies around the world including: Armani Exchange, Tommy Hilfiger, Enyce, Target, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Fitness and most recently Maxim Espanol, Black Mens-Latina issue, and Show-International issue all of which will be out this summer so make sure to stay tuned for those issues.

“There are a lot of beautiful woman out there. How do you set yourself apart? Beauty is transient, knowledge is power. Which outweighs the other? Sustaining longevity in this industry takes more then a beautiful face and a beautiful body, it takes brainpower, advises Michelle.

“Although I should not be endorsing any products without first getting paid, I will say I love Bath & Body Works lotions, Michelle says, with a laugh. “It is an inexpensive way to keep soft smooth skin. A good friend of mine has a great apparel and bathing suite line I love it’s called Maison Prive. I love it so much I’ve used some of her pieces on some of my shoots. And Happy by Clinique—can't leave home without it.
