Tihari; Pride Of Hawaii

I am the first on both my mom’s and dad’s side of the family to graduate from High School; Romulus High, with honors and to attend college.

Our Model Of The Day

Where She’s From: Tihari Johnson was born and raised in Honolulu Hawaii until she turned 13 years old, by her mother’s side of the family. “My mom is Samoan and my dad Black. We didn’t have much while growing up but it taught me to be the humble person that I am today,” she tells The Black Star News.

The beautiful young model is now a junior at Eastern Michigan University, studying accounting. Yet she somehow squeezes enough time for her singing and modeling.

Where She’s At: “I have big dreams and love to do what I do,” she says. “I have very high expectations and I’m hoping that I can meet them. I see big things coming my way. I know that it will take time, patience and hard work but I believe in myself. I really want to take my modeling and singing career to the next level; I’ve been waiting for it my whole life.”

“It hurts me that because of my skin color it’s harder for me to get into the modeling industry; the color of my skin has always been an issue to people and it just makes me sad, but I just keep my head up high and try to be strong,” she says, when asked about some of the challenges in the industry.

“I’d have to say that I am most proud of my accomplishments in school. I am the first on both my mom’s and dad’s side of the family to graduate from High School; Romulus High, with honors and to attend college. I am most proud to know that I have made my family happy and given them hope.”

“I always believed that wisdom is far more beautiful than just looks and riches; of course, I want it all but I know some very beautiful women in my family who aren’t considered the model-type women in the world but are very beautiful in my eyes because of their great wisdom.”

“I’m not into name brand clothing. I didn’t grow up with much so I just like nice things; comfortable clothing or I just like to keep things nice and simple. But for makeup I don’t use much just like to use bronzer to add a glow to my face and mascara to bring out my eyelashes, no preference as long as it works. for perfume I like to use Vanilla smells because they’re sweet like me.”

Tihari’s Words Of Wisdom: “Never let anyone or anything hold you back from your dreams and what you believe in; keep striving and never change for anyone, stay true to yourself.”
Tihari’s Secrets Of Success: “I am a very determined person and I don’t stop until I get what I want. If I believe that I need something then I keep fighting until I get it.”

Tihari’s Favorite Films: “One of the movies I like is an island movie called The Legend of Johnny Lingo; I love that movie because it reminds me of my Samoan culture. My other favorite movies would have to be Déjà vu, and Crash.”
