“Made in NY” Talks: African-American Actors

In Honor of Black History Month, “Made in NY” Talks Feature Prominent African-American Actors Working in Film, TV & Theater Presented by the Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment, the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, and The New School for Drama

As a part of “Made in NY” Talks, a free series of conversations focused on jobs in the local entertainment industry, the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment in partnership with Screen Actors Guild Foundation and The New School for Drama will present “Made in NY: African American Actors” on Monday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m. at The New School’s University Center.

The Talk will feature a talented group of actors from film, television and theater productions in New York City, including Uzo Aduba from ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, Peter Jay Fernandez currently in ALL THE WAY on Broadway with Bryan Cranston, Tawny Cypress from UNFORGETTABLE and Renée Elise Goldsberry from THE GOOD WIFE, to discuss their careers and acting experiences in New York City. The Talk will be moderated by Adam Moore, National Director EEO & Diversity for SAG-AFTRA.

The event is free and open to SAG-AFTRA and Actors’ Equity members, New School students and faculty, and New York City residents interested in learning more about opportunities in the entertainment industry.  This event will be f ilmed for the SAG Foundation’s online educational archives. It will also broadcast on NYC life (Channel 25), part of the official network of the City of New York, and will be available to watch on the NYC Media Video on Demand Player at nyc.gov/vod.
