RyanNicole (above) and Niema Jordan, artists and creators from Oakland, California, collaborated to create “Labor” – a short film featuring Ryan’s poem.

RyanNicole wrote Labor as a response to the lack of a harsher indictment on the police officer who murdered Breonna Taylor.

Featuring iconic landmarks in Oakland, the short film directed by Niema Jordan and commissioned by The Center for Cultural Power, also explores the pain and challenges of being the mother of Black child in America and how fragile and heartbreakingly easy it is for them to be the casualty of police brutality in this country.
