Where She’s From:
Africa Miranda, whose Zodiac sign is Capricorn, was born in Boston, MA, and raised in Montgomery, AL, and considers Alabama her home. She graduated from Alabama State University and from there moved to New York City to fully pursue my music career.

“I definitely consider myself to be on the verge,â€? Miranda says. “I’ve been working very hard the last few years developing my craft: recording, songwriting, performing—and now thanks to the exposure I’ve gained from being a finalist in the My Grammy Moment competition, there are so many doors and opportunities open to me.â€?
 

“I feel my biggest challenge is staying positive in the face of setbacks and negativity. When things don’t go according to plan, which is often, you have a choice to view it as a negative or a positive. I work hard to see the lesson in everything and keep moving forward no matter what. I feel that this mindset has helped me get this far and will continue to take me all the way,â€? she continues.

Miranda’s hard work has translated into several accomplishments. She’s been a Top 3 Finalist in the My Grammy Moment competition; Featured story in People Magazine, Hip Hop Weekly, and Cove Magazine. She also featured on Vibe Magazine 2007 Artists on the Verge Compilation CD; featured artist on Webstar Presents: Caught in the Web album released on Universal/Motown.

“It is absolutely important to combine beauty with intelligence because a pretty face is nothing without intelligence. Also, beauty is extremely subjective, and it is guaranteed to fade. So if you base your self worth on it you will ultimately be disappointed,� Miranda cautions.

So how does Miranda dress to kill? “I use Kiehl’s—very natural, great for your skin, and love the scents. Perfume: Delice de Cartier—the best scent in the world, to me. Makeup: Becca Cosmetics for foundation, MAC for blush and eye shadows, Urban Decay for eye shadows.â€?
