Darrin Ross, the creator, director and producer of ”Invincible: A Glorious Tribute To Michael Jackson,” visited with me on my show “Topically Yours” on the BlakeRadio Network, Rainbow Soul, after a week of appearances on broadcast venues throughout the city to promote his upcoming show at NJPAC.

A show biz denizen from an early age, Ross has been producing and engineering songs since 1984. In 1987, he started working with Jam On Productions, a company that produced hit songs “Jam On It,” “Push the Button,” “Destination Earth” and other hits. He went on to do national TV with Dance Party USA and One House Street. Later creating his own record company with Keith Davis wherein they started a group called The Roots. He began working with Rennie Harris Pure Movement as the Executive Director and co-collaborator, creating music and lighting. This led to working with Maurice Hines, Judith Jamison, et al. He worked on Rome and Jewels, a hip hop version of Romeo and Juliet resulting in Ross winning a Bessie Award for Sound Design and Composition.

Darrin created his current show Invincible: A Glorious Tribute to Michael Jackson in 2009, right after Jackson died, bringing people aboard such as band leader Doron “uglybraine” Lev, beat boxer and vocal percussionist, Anointed S; MJ sound alike tribute artist Jeffrey Perez and MJ tribute dancer Pete Carter.

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), located at 1 Center Street, in Newark, NJ, will be featuring “Invincible” on Saturday, June 11th at 8:00 pm.

I pitched the idea to NJPAC of having a celebrate “Michael Jackson Day” wherein ticket holders will be treated to face painting, MJ collectibles, a workshop conducted by Trap music artist, Michael Trapson, and a look-alike, sound alike and a perform like Michael contest. Therefore, fans should come dressed in their best MJ attire. There will be food with an MJ theme menu, and the Harlem Gossip Live group. Also, Lavelle Smith Jr, Michael Jackson’s former chief choreographer for 23 years, will be judging the contest. Lavelle has allowed us to present new material from the Invincible Tour that he worked on with Michael. Material that Michael planned, but never toured. Also music/dances from an HBO Special called One Night Only that was to be on the Beacon stage that never aired. “Michael Jackson Day” starts at 5pm. The Invincible show starts promptly at 8pm.” Fans can tune into Fox Five “Good Day New York” on June 10th where I’ll be talking about Invincible and MJ Day. So come on out!” remarked Darrin Ross.

VIP ticket buyers get the best seats in the house, a commemorative poster and a chance to meet and greet the artists after the show. Fans can buy tickets by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 and/or call the NJPAC Box Office at 888-466-5722.
