Actor Edwin Freeman has released a free mixtape in honor of childhood friend and legendary deejay Sakeen “DJ Roughandz” Payne.
Payne who died last July due to complications from Diabetes was instrumental in launching the careers of rap superstars, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo and Freeman, who raps under the moniker Billy-D’s deejay during the late nineties.
Freeman is best known for his prominent role as Mister Cee in the 2009 blockbuster biopic NOTORIOUS, about the rise and of Brooklyn rapper Notorious B.I.G. who was later slain. Both he and Payne who grew up blocks away from each other in the tough neighborhood of South Jamaica, Queens, and chose entertainment as a way to escape the crime that plagued their neighborhood.
The mixtape entitled “The Best of Billy-D” is hosted by DJ Roughandz and available for download on DatPiff.com now.
