New Orleans Jazz Festival 2008 presented by Shell, which took place the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May, saw folks substituting their sun tan lotions for umbrellas and rain coats. Nevertheless, the mud and rain did not stop festival addicts from showing up and enjoying big acts and unique bands.

The skies must have sensed the resolve of fans for while it rained a lot, even into the second week of the festival May1-4th, 2008, by late Saturday May 3rd, 2008, the skies gave way to sunshine.

By Sunday May 4th, 2008, the festival was packed with thousands who came to see big name acts such as the Neville Brothers, who were playing for the first time Post Katrina, Santana, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, among many.

Other big name acts that had performed prior to Sunday included Sheryl Crow, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Jimmy Buffett, Tim McGraw, Widespread Panic, Dr. John, Al Green, Diana Krall, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Keyshia Cole, The Roots, and The Raconteurs.

The festival was not only about music. It was also a place for great food, arts and crafts. From cooking demonstrations to vendors selling anything from crawfish bisque, curried chicken, fried chicken to po-boy sandwiches, fans could simultaneously enjoy the great food New Orleans is known for, shop for arts and crafts and enjoy great music.
